The Port of Kymi belongs to the Ports of Major Interest (K3 category), in accordance with the Ministerial Decision 831/2007 (MD 8315.07 GG B’/ 202/2007) and serves multiple uses such as tourism and fishing activities.
The port is managed by the company Evia Island Ports Authority S.A. (OLNE S.A.), by virtue of the article 51 of GR Law 4150/2013 (GG 102/ A’).
By Ministerial Decision (Government Gazette 1776 D’/2023) the Hellenic Republic Asset Development Fund (HRADF S.A.) is designated to act as Planning Authority in accordance with article 159 of Law 4635/2019 (A’167) for the Kymi Port. HRADF through its expertise, will support OLNE S.A. during the approval process of the Port Development Framework (PEAL) and will speed up the public consultation of the Strategic Environmental Impact Assessment of Kymi Port. The PEAL of Kymi Port has already been presented to the Port Planning Development Committee (ESAL) on 11.05.2023 and received a positive opinion.
Major investments planned in the PEAL for Kymi Port include harbour works for the rehabilitation of the armouring of the windward mole, construction of seaplanes’ infrastructure and construction of buildings.
