“Mana” or “Korfoxylia” Sanatorium is located in a unique natural environment at an altitude of 1200 m on Mount Mainalos, 3 km from the village of Magouliana, and is a historical building of unique architecture, which has been declared a listed monument.

It dates back to 1929 and is known as “The Mana Sanatorium.” The building was named after Anna Mela, sister of the Macedonian hero Pavlos Melas, who was the creator of the sanatorium. He wanted to create the largest sanatorium in the Balkans, so he received financial assistance from the wealthy Greeks of the diaspora in Egypt and America. Anna Mela was an aristocrat of the time who dedicated her life and wealth to the treatment of wounded soldiers and tuberculosis patients. Due to her devotion to the patients and her extensive charity work, she was called the “Soldier’s Mother”, hence the sanatorium’s name.

The Sanatorium, which was abandoned in 1970, is the work of craftsmen from Lagadines and is made of grey limestone with neo-classical influences.

The property was leased in 2020 from HRADF and renovated into a hotel which started operating in July 2023 under the name MANNA.
